Sunshine,

Holes pierced in last nights darkness

Golden rays spill over the eastern hills

dragging a blue monday behind it.

Sigh

A yellow little birdie announces the arrival

of a fresh day.

A song of different hues and textures

I listen, and dive headfirst into

a pool of black coffee

washing away the fading

colours of last nights sleep.

Red burning embers

flare up in my eyes

Today i will live

a little yellow birdie told me so

this is lovely..diving head first into a pool of black coffee…yes…that’s how my mornings look as well…and then the little yellow bird announcing the colors of a new day..what a perfect start into the day…

I love the way lines and phrase speak of two different worlds in the same breath. Convincingly done.

    Particularly love these lines:

“A yellow little birdie announces the arrival

    of a fresh day.

A song of different hues and textures

I listen, and dive headfirst into

    a pool of black coffee

    washing away the fading

    colours of last nights sleep.”

Can totally relate. Except mine is very creamy coffee. *Smiles*. Deliciously penned. You capture the “morning mood” well.

Your use of color in this one made me feel happy. We have orioles visit our feeder for about six weeks early summer. It is such a thrill to see them and they do liven up the day. Thanks, Quaz.

  14. This I can totally relate to. The hope in the last line makes me smile.
