Dangerous Flowers

I saw the evil flower
Constantly shape shifting
Licking, eating away at
the world around her.

The wind designs her choreography
She dances,
The evil flower dances,
spreads her arms
And delivers death

She spits into the sky.
A white toxic mist
clings to the heavens.

I’ve seen the evil flower
Consume everything around her.
Eating away at herself
Until only a fine powder remains

  2. brian says:

wow dude..def some intense imagery…love the stanza on her dancing…wind designing her choreography…wicked flow in that…good stuff man

  3. I like this a lot. The image of the fire consuming someone, seen thru the eyes of an arsonist, perhaps, attracted and repulsed me at the same time. That realization is something to ponder as well.

  4. S.E.Ingraham says:

worse than a Venus Flytrap this flora – great imagery – esp when she ends up eating herself to dust …

  5. Shawna says:

Excellent description of fire. I love “the evil flower.” And how apt that other-worldlies might see it as just evil without recognizing its benefits and properties that sustain life as we know it.

  6. Semaphore says:

You’ve managed to take the Martian technique to heart in this one, and pushed it to the extreme. Excellent, excellent write.

  7. Chazzy Chazz says:

I thought I’d commented on this. If it was lost please let me know.

  8. Gay says:

And the evil flower, could her name be Poppy and might she just reduce to a fine white dust? That is some powerhouse metaphor and we’re not just talkin’ Martian here! Excellent work.

  9. David King says:

The first line made me think of “The Flowers of Evil”. That I wasn’t disappointed thereafter is testimony to how well I liked the poem!

  10. claudia says:

wow..very vivid and intense descriptions here…capturing the danger and the never-enough of fire..

Love the way you portray the flame growing: “The wind designs her choreography
    She dances…”

  13. Other Mary says:

What a vivid and fresh description of fire. Kudos.
