I survived
Dragged myself off the battlefield
Broken and bruised

Licking wounds
The taste of depression lingers.
A loveless King
on a throne of self pity

Flashes of us before the wars.
You and I in a field of yellow flowers.
Happy and ready to rule our tomorrow.

Would I go back?
Yes; without a second thought.

  1. Ruth says:

This is what I call beautiful poetry, Quaz – the kind one can’t just stand in the door of…

    A loveless King
on a throne of self pity

and oh, if only we could go back to the innocence of ‘before’, of

You and I in a field of yellow flowers.

  2. You really paint beautiful pictures with your words. This feels like a song.

  3. ~L says:

you know… sometimes when asked to go back and change something… my first reactions is yes yes yes I would change it… but then I would not have my kids, or be where I am, or write the way I do… or have a heart for the brokenhearted like I do… Your poem made me think about where I have come and how even though it’s painful I would not give up the loves I have now… even though it sounds a bit crazy to me…

    rambling on I go:) lol

Your poems bring depth to this girl:)
