We will come to pass

Once upon a time
in a castle made of flesh and bone
a Young soul stood .
On a balcony of thoughts
overlooking his ever changing kingdom

The dreams he had.
The mistakes he made.
The love he lost and gained

Ruler over each moment

Daily The young soul
inspects his aging castle.
Dreading and accepting the day
when it will all crumble to the earth

Bringing to an end the era of his rule.

But this young soul
has heard whispers.
Whispers of a new kingdom
where frail castles.
do not exist
only light and love

A place where all rulers go.

  1. brian miller says:

ha, i am sure there are plenty of rulers that would wish, and i imagine that in a place without castles to keep the commoners apart would be a beautiful place of love….really nice opening stanza that hooked me man…

  2. claudia says:

nice..i love the idea of the body as a castle…changing…adapting…getting fragile…and in the end the hope of the everlasting home that awaits us..
glad that you liked my pic as well..in fact i shot it when i was visiting castle Neuschwanstein in bavaria with a south african group… it’s the castle that served as a model for the disney castle..

  3. Interesting story with hidden depths – sense of a rebirth here.

  4. Chazinator says:

Those castles we form which some day too will crumble. You capture the nature of transience in this poem, which brings to bear our mortality. I think we have to dream and build our castles, but we should always remember that they will go the way of all things. Can we build such things on solid rock?

  5. Ahh… it never fails but, sooner or later, even the mighty are fallen because they cannot (yet) cheat death, unless of course, it’s a fairy tale 🙂 LOL

  6. booguloo says:

On a balcony of thoughts, what a great inner image.

  7. “where frail castles do not exist, only light and love….” how lovely.

  8. zongrik says:

where frail castles do not exist…those crazy flesh and bones castles…

    once upon a polar bear

  9. Laurie Kolp says:

Really enjoyed this, Quaz… especially the ending.

  10. shanyns says:

This is really well done, images that make you see one thing, words that take you deeper. Nicely crafted.
